A wedding reception is where your guests spend the most time, so the décor should feel welcoming as well as beautiful. Elegance usually comes from a few strong decisions rather than many small ones.

Start with the stage

The couple’s stage is the focal point for photos and speeches. Choose one statement element, such as a floral arch, a draped backdrop or a framed panel wall, and build the rest around it. A comfortable sofa or a pair of chairs, low florals at the front edge and a clear path for family photos keep the space practical.

Repeat your colors with intention

Pick two main colors and one accent. Repeat them in the stage flowers, table centerpieces and entrance so the room reads as one design. Deep reds and magentas feel rich in the evening; ivory and blush feel soft and timeless.

Think about the guest view

Walk through the room as a guest would. Can people at the back see the stage? Are centerpieces low enough for conversation, or tall enough to rise above eye level? Mixing both heights adds interest without blocking sightlines.

Plan lighting early

Warm uplighting on the backdrop and soft light on the tables make florals glow and help photographers. Ask your venue about power points before the design is final.
