Dance performances need décor that frames the stage without getting in the dancers' way. In April 2025, Shreeda Events provided the decoration for an Adrija Dance Academy performance, and we thank the academy for the opportunity.
The design
- A border of white and red flowers runs along the front edge of the stage, framing the performers from the audience's view.
- Palm tree props stand at the sides, adding height and a festive feel.
- The flowers pick up the red of the dancers' costumes, so stage and performance read as one picture.
Designing for performances
Stage décor for a show follows different rules from a wedding or birthday backdrop:
- Keep the performance area completely clear and safe; décor belongs at the edges and front.
- Stay low at the front edge so the audience and cameras can see the dancers' feet.
- Work with the stage lighting and any screens behind the performers instead of adding a busy backdrop.
- Secure everything firmly, since performers move fast and close to the edge.
Planning your event
Share the stage measurements, the program and the costume colors with your decorator early. Ask the venue about load-in times, especially when rehearsals use the stage on the same day.
