Celebrating at home feels personal and relaxed, and a backyard can host anything from a small dinner to a full ceremony. It does need a little more planning than a venue that is ready to use.
Measure and map the space
Sketch the yard with doors, trees, slopes and sprinkler heads. Decide where the main feature, seating, food and walkways will go. A clear aisle or path keeps guests moving and makes the setting look intentional.
Plan for weather
Texas weather can change quickly. Shade for daytime events, a tent or covered area as a backup, and secure anchoring for backdrops and drapes protect both guests and décor.
Check power and lighting
Outdoor lighting turns a backyard into an evening venue. List the outlets available, how far they are from the setup, and whether extension routes are safe for guests to walk past.
Rent what you need
- Tables and chairs sized for your guest count.
- Flooring or carpet runners for uneven ground.
- Fans or heaters, depending on the season.
Remember neighbors and parking, too; a friendly note ahead of time goes a long way.
